Hello and welcome to the Scomis Newsletter! In this week’s edition we have a reminder about upcoming changes to your service provision, urgent messaging about protecting your data and SEN data retention, information on our Bromcom webinars, upcoming training for all schools, and our Scomis Service Status.
Change – Only 1 week to go!
This is now urgent. Now is the time to check that everything is in-place to give you continuation of service provision.
If you are staying with Scomis check-in with your account manager if you are unsure of anything. If you are moving and your new provider has things in-hand then call your new provider in the first instance, we will of course assist with any information regarding your move.
If you are moving and we have not heard from your new provider your Scomis account manager will call you to check on your current situation, or you can contact us on 01392 385300 and press option 5.
Urgent: Protecting your archived data
There may be a need for your school to complete several tasks to ensure that you do not lose required data pending the end of your current SIMS and FMS license. This must be actioned with the utmost urgency as you will lose access to your SIMS and FMS systems on 31st March 2025.
Please read our news bulletin to ensure you are able to complete the necessary tasks to protect your data, and forward this on to the relevant parties at your school or federation.
Important information regarding SEN Data Retention
This routine will only be available for schools on our Hosted platform until 31st March 2025.
All schools should have a policy in place which defines how pupil data will be held and when that information will be confidentially destroyed in compliance with the terms of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
We have created a series of reports which will assist you in gathering archive data for pupils who’ve left the school that might fall out of the standard data migration scope but still be relevant to keep as it is covered by the regulations and/or your own internal policy. These reports are not designed to be the perfect solution, they are entirely customisable and we recommend you do so to suit your requirements if needed.
