Season’s greetings, and welcome to the final newsletter of 2024! In this week’s festive newsletter we have a reminder about contract renewals, a 1 day online conference, updates on online safety, upcoming training and CPD, a reminder of our MIS Discovery Days and guidance on getting in touch with us over the Christmas period.
Contracts
You might have seen a lot of talk about contract renewal in the education community online.
Technically the last day for giving 90 days notice to terminate a contract that ends on the 31st March is the 31st December prior.
In reality, to complete the process of termination, especially where a written notice needs to be delivered, extra time needs to be factored in.
For schools that means factoring in the Christmas break as well.
If you have decided to move away from a contract with any supplier, including Scomis, we strongly suggest that you send the required notice in the next week.
If you are in a longer term contract then please get in touch with your account manager to discuss your options.
1 day online conference – Preventing ‘lost learning’ through increasing attendance and reducing exclusions
Advance notice of 1 day online conference for:
- Education welfare officers
- SENDCOs
- School governors
- Primary and secondary school headteachers and deputies
- Heads of year
- Teachers
- Heads of department or subject leads
- Headteachers & SLT
- Commissioners
- Heads of service
- Children’s social workers
This conference, organised by Children and Young People Now, takes place on 12 February 2025 online.

MIS Discovery Days
Earlier this year we hosted a number of MIS Discovery Days sessions, showcasing options for schools’ MIS provision. These sessions included deep dives into each MIS and are all available to watch on YouTube.

The Scomis Service Desk will be open until 5pm on Christmas Eve, 24th December. We will then be closed until 7.30am on the 2nd January 2025.
As a reminder you can log a case through the MyScomis portal and we will deal with it on our return.
