For remote tutor-led training, please ensure that your computer meets the technical requirements. This often involves a camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. Sometimes access to the training environment will be required. Pre-course instructions will be sent if the training environment is needed.

Assessment and Progress in SIMS for Secondary Schools - Tutor Led Presentation

This presentation, aimed at Senior Leaders and Data Managers, offers insight into how Sims might be best used as part of school assessment and reporting policy. It will cover a high level overview of how to structure data collection, how this might be presented to different audiences in school (e.g. class teachers, heads of department and senior leaders), what tools are available within Sims for data analysis and how data can be extracted for use in a variety of ways outside Sims. It will also cover hints and tricks and how to avoid common pitfalls. Schools wishing to learn in more depth should consider a follow up to this presentation.

Attendance in SIMS - Tutor Led Training

Attendance provides schools with an integrated classroom and administration tool to monitor students’ attendance and behaviour. The Attendance module in a Primary school is used to record statutory attendance of AM and PM sessions. Using SIMS Attendance can help schools reduce truancy and improve safeguarding while monitoring behaviour trends in the classroom, facilitating early intervention where necessary.

Course Manager in SIMS - Tutor Led Training

Designed to support schools without Post-16 provision, this presentation explores how the Course Management functionality of SIMS links the areas of Nova-T, Academic Management and Examinations Organiser. This presentation does not include Post 16 functionality, if this is required, Scomis recommends booking the 1 day Course Manager with Post-16 Learning Aims sessions.

Course Manager with Post-16 Learning Aims in SIMS - Tutor Led Training

This course explores how the Course Manager functionality of SIMS links areas such as Nova-T, academic management and Examinations Organiser, including procedures for supporting the maintenance of post-16 learning aims data to ensure the appropriate funding for the school. We strongly recommend schools to have someone in charge of Course Manager.

Understand how to set up, customise and implement Cover to manage all aspects of classroom staff absence and room unavailability. Explore the dynamic links of the module to other areas of SIMS. Domestic Exams in SIMS - Tutor Led Training

This course details how SIMS Examinations Organiser can be used to manage domestic (internal/mock/PPE) examinations. The purpose of a domestic exam season in Examinations Organiser is to extend the functionality available for public exams to domestic exams. This course covers the initial planning and preparation for these exams, creating basedata, managing candidates, making entries, and arranging seating. It also explores links to SIMS Assessment.

This one and a half hour session is aimed at users of SIMS new to year end procedures (or are looking for a refresher) and explores configuring SIMS for the new school year.

Examinations Organiser Training Series (SIMS) - Session 1: Setting up Examinations Organiser - Tutor Led Training

Examinations Organiser supports all aspects of managing external examinations. This course covers reviewing the setup of the software, importing and structuring basedata, creating and submitting files for entries, coursework marks, and managing and seating candidates. We've broken the course down into key tasks throughout the academic year. You can choose to attend all sessions or just the ones you wish to refresh your knowledge on. This course is Session 1 of 3 and focuses on Setting up Examinations Organiser. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone is required for all our training courses.

Examinations Organiser Training Series (SIMS) - Session 2: Importing Basedata, Entries and Submissions - Tutor Led Training

We've broken the course down into key tasks throughout the academic year. You can choose to attend all sessions or just the ones you wish to refresh your knowledge on. This course is Session 2 of 3 and focusses on Importing Basedata, Entries and Submissions. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone are required for all our training courses.
